When it comes to mobile carriers in the US, most people would probably think of the big three that comprise of Verizon Wireless, Sprint and AT&T. These giants operate on a totally different scale compared to the smaller mobile carriers, but that doesn’t mean that those outside of the equation won’t get cool handsets from time to time although it can be pretty rare for that to happen. Cricker Communications will be offering the LG HELiX from LG Electronics, marking LG’s reintroduction into the Cricket handset lineup after a time of absence. The LG HELiX will come in the form factor of a clamshell and not a candybar, so if you’re the type who loves flipping phones open and closing them with a satisfying smack, this is the one for you.
The LG HELiX will come with a large 176 x 220 2.0″ TFT 262K internal color display alongside a lesser 96 x 64 TFT 262K external color display. With its large keypad, users will be able to dial the desired number in a jiffy, while the increase in font size makes for a fast and easy read. This does lead us to wonder – was the LG HELiX designed to cater to those who are older among us and already have troubles trying to make out tiny print? Nice to know this entry-level phone does not come with a VGA camera but will instead contain a 1.3-megapixel camera for impromptu shots, while Voice Clarity brings speech intelligibility a notch higher, where it will automatically adjust hearing level when a user is receiving or sending calls in noisy environments. You can also opt to use a Bluetooth headset with this cellphone for your hands-free needs.
You can choose from silver or pink colors for the LG HELiX, where it will retail for $139.99 per handset. Guess this can start off as a first cellphone for college going kids (who will grumble because it is not an iPhone) and among the older population who want nothing more than a regular cellphone to keep in touch.

The owners of iPhone in Australia stopped sleeping this weekend to find their devices targeted by self-replicating attacks. They got an image of 1980s heart throb Rick Astley that's not easily removed.
The researchers say "the world's first iPhone worm in the wild". These target on SSH software installed phones and change the Apple's default root password of "alpine".
A review of some of the source code, shows that the malware, once installed, searches the mobile phone network for other vulnerable iPhones and when it finds one, copies itself to them using the the default password and SSH, a Unix application also known as secure shell.
Users who tried to delete the image were chagrined to find it reappear once they rebooted their device.
"An US cell phone security firm has found many smart phone applications retrieving the sensitive datas and sending them to third parties without notification"
Beware, your smart phone application is watching you much more closely than you might do. Lookout Inc., https://www.mylookout.com/ , a cell phone security firm, scanned nearlt 3000,000 free applicayions from Apple iPhone and photos built around Google Android software.
Datas are used for Targetted Ads....
There is a major concern that has been bubbling up in privacy and security circles. The data can include full details about users contents, their pictures, text messages, internet search and history. The third parties can include advertisers and companies that analyze data on users. These information is used by the companies to target ads and learn more about their users.
Lookout Inc., found that nearly a quater of the iPhone apps and almost half the Google Android apps containd those capabilities.
Codes given by third-parties.....
The code written and given by the third parties are inserted into the applications by the developers, usually for the specific purpose such as allowing the applications to run ads. But the code winds up forcing the application to collect more datas on users that even the developers may realize.
"Apple did not resopnd to the request for comment on Lookout's research....."

My Mobile Gadget's opinion:
The new Motorola Milestone XT720 is an Android 2.1 smart phone, with its 8MP camera and Xenon flash. This phone really looks to be the most camera-centric Android handset to date, especially when you throw 720p HD video recording into the deal. Other than that, the Motorola Milestone XT720 seems to be a very good looking handset with characteristic design, large 3.7-inch, 480x854 resolution capacitive screen, HDMI interface, 3.5mm jack, and all other kinds of stuff.
One of the Computer Laptop manufacturing giant, the Acer entered the mobile phone manufacturing sector. Recently Acer has unveiled Acer M900, F900, X960 and DX900 smart phones, working on Microsoft Windows 6.1.
The Acer M900 has been ideally fabricated for the users who need uninterrupted access to e-mail and files. Three of them utilize a new interface, called Acer Shell, made by the company itself. It is a high-end, business oriented phone, that sports QWERTY keyboard, a 5 mega pixel camera, 3.8 inch display as normally seen on smart phones. It also includes functions that's rare on smart phones "fingerprint reader protection". This can be seen below the display terminal.
Design:
This comes under heavyweight category. It is not that mush comfortable in your pockets. The screen size 3.8 inches, makes it looks bigger. The keyboard buttons are large enough to type.
Camera:
The camera is really convincing. All the icons are large enough to press. It takes 4 econds to start. The Acer M900 delivers high quality pictures with different modes/settings, like Outdooe, Indoor, Strong light, Medium light, Low light, and Document captures.
Multimedia:
The Windows Media Player is apt for Acer M900. It can handle MP4/h.264 format with a better resolution of 720 pixels. A good quality of sound is coming out from loud speaker.
Performance:
The performance of Acer M900 is good. Voice clarity is good with built-in ear piece. The stability and speed is ok. The only grip is the accelerometer. Turning the phone to the landscape position is annoying.
The Plus:
Huge Display: 3.8-inches
HSDPA Connectivity
SiRF Star III GPS
Finger Print Senser
The Minus:
Clunky Interface
Heavy
Poor build quality
Poor keyboard
Poor Battery life
No dedicated audio port
The Verdict:
Though Acer M900 possess high-end features and sensors, it FAILS in key areas when compared to other smart phones like HTC, Samsung and iPhone.
